Hogle Zoo

On Saturday, 7/26/2008, we went to Hogle Zoo with Mary and Patty. We had a great time. They had a special bird show in an ampitheater. It was sponsored by Meadow Gold. There was quite a variety of birds; eagles, hawks, owls, doves, chickens, etc.

The eagles, hawks and doves flew just a foot over our heads at various times in the program. It was very impressive.

It took us the whole day to get through the entire zoo.

Visit of Mary and Patty

On Saturday, July 19, 2008, Mary and Patty arrived from California. It was hot, 100 + degrees. They went to stores to buy different things. I put together three sets of shelves for Karalee and Derricks new apartment while they went to the stores.

That night we had a big birthday bash for me (cake and ice cream). Fun was had by all?

Saturday night, Carol and I went home because I needed to be home on Sunday to teach the lesson for the Highp Priest group and to do missionary work. Mary and Patty stayed at Karalee's. Sunday night they had a birthday party for Rachel Kaurman in Provo at her parents home. Carol and I did not attend because the heat on Saturday did Carol in. She was not feeling well.

Mary and Patty are planning to visit various things in the Provo area Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday eve they will be coming up to stay with us and see several things in Salt Lake. Thursday is Pioneer Day which is a State Holiday. Most of the tourist sites will be open that day. All will be open on Friday. They will be leaving Saturday night.

Today, Monday, is nice and cool. There are rain clouds and every so often there is a sprinkle here and there. It is very nice.

Family History Volunteer

Today I started working again as a volunteer for the Family History Mission. I work from 8 am to 12 noon from Monday thru Friday. In the afternoons and some evenings I go to the Family History Library and do research on my lines and Carol's lines.

Karalee and Derrick move

We helped Karalee and Derrick move today.

Their new address is:

357 N. 1080 E.
Provo, Utah 84606

They still have their same cell phone numbers.

Michael will move in with them in August when his present apartment contract expires.

July 4th Celebration

We had a great July 4th celebration. Myself, Carol, John, Allison, Alan, Hyrum, Karalee, Derrick and Michael met at the home of Allison's parents, Ken and Linda, in Pleasant Grove. Ken and Linda had a new house built for them in Pleasant Grove. It is gorgeous.

We met there for Michael's birthday dinner. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips and pop. The we had a chocolate mud pie (Michael's favorite) for dessert.

After dinner, we went to the field of an elementary school to watch fireworks. There were no trees to obstruct the view of the fireworks. It was the best display I have seen in years.

Michael, Ken and Linda watched from the house lawn.

Gerber Family Reunion

The gerber family reunion was 6/29/2008 (Sunday), 6/30/2008 (Monday) and 7/1/2008 (Tuesday). It was at the Lagoon Campground. It started Sunday at 12:00 noon. We went down to Provo and brought Karalee, Derrick and Michael up to our apartment on Saturday night. They stayed overnight and on Sunday morning we all went to our ward at 9 am. After our ward block ended at noon, we changed, had lunch and went to the family reunion.

We had a great time. All of Donna's kids and their families eventually came except for Keva's family which is in Texas. Two of Del and Ora's kids, Mindy and Darren came with their families.

A new Gerber Organization president was elected, Paul Gibson, the son of Carol's aunt, Janet Gibson. A vice president was also elected, Joe Gibson, another son of Janet Gibson.

Janet Gibson and Eva Mae Kimber, both aunts of Carol were at the reunion. It was great to see them and talk to them.

In all there were about 100 that attended the reunion during the course of three days.
